Social Media Ready: Export Settings for Vertical Video
Resolution, codec, frame rate and file naming. The export settings that keep vertical video sharp after platforms recompress it.

Quick answer: for TikTok, Reels and Shorts, export vertical video at 1080 x 1920 in H.264 (or H.265 where supported), at the same frame rate you shot, with a generous bitrate and AAC audio. Platforms recompress uploads, so starting from a clean, high-quality file matters.
A beautifully reframed clip can still look poor if the export is wrong. These settings work across the major platforms.
Resolution
1080 x 1920 is the standard vertical delivery. Some platforms accept higher resolutions, but 1080 x 1920 is widely supported and keeps files manageable. If your crop came from 4K, it will be sharp at this size.
Codec and bitrate
H.264 in an MP4 container is the safest choice. Use a higher bitrate than you would for streaming, because platforms will compress again. Very low bitrates show blocking in skies and dark scenes.
Frame rate
Keep the frame rate of your source, commonly 24, 25, 30 or 60. Converting between rates can add judder. High frame rates help with sport and skateboarding.
Audio
AAC stereo at a standard sample rate works everywhere. Check levels on a phone speaker, where most people will hear it.
Before you upload
Watch the file on a phone. Check framing, text and safe zones.
Name it clearly: project, platform, ratio and version.
Check the duration against each platform's current limits.
Specs change, so confirm current limits in each platform's help center.
